'"When this is over - and it will be over - we want to look back on this moment and remember the small acts of kindness done by us and to us"

Over the past week here at Freedom Works we have been busy focusing on the big comeback! It is so important to remind ourselves that we are coming back from COVID-19 this is simply a true test of humanity.
Lockdown has inevitably been a rollercoaster of emotions for every single individual around the world and rather than looking back it is certainly time to look forward and see the bigger picture.

So how is Freedom Works coming back?
  • Previously to lockdown we had already implemented the following protocols:
  • Keeping a 2 metre distance
  • Self Isolation Protocol
  • Notifying Freedom Works of Confirmed Cases
  • Thorough cleans of the entire space several times a day

It has been almost six weeks since Boris Johnson announced that the UK was to go into lockdown in an effort to attempt to limit the spread of Coronavirus. Each of our four co-working spaces have remained open throughout the south coast but have been unmanned by our Community Managers. We were conscious that working from home is not feasible for some of our members so a small minority have been using their offices whilst following strict social distancing rules.

We have recently been busy gathering resources to make our spaces as safe, accessible and hygienic as possible for teams to ease back into their working environments.

What does this include?
  • Maintaining Social Distancing Access Numbers
  • Social Distancing Movement within the spaces
  • Door Entry Hand Sanitizers
  • Limited Communal Area & Kitchen Access
  • One person at a time ‘Toilet Access’
  • Increased Cleaning
  • Changes to how Freedom Works manages the spaces

Why are we doing this?

Here at Freedom Works we understand just how important it is to keep your work-life balance as we have written about before so as soon as we are given the go-ahead by the government we will do anything in our power to get businesses back into their everyday routines as the success of our members is very important to us and of course the nation's economy.

Having a safe environment away from your home will allow you to mentally clear your head and get back into what we once knew as ‘normal’ day to day life.

When recently interviewed by The Argus, our Managing Director, Jon Trigg alongside creative director at PLATF9RM, Jon revealed the following:

He said when its offices eventually reopen, water coolers and tea urns could be spread out to stop people clustering, there could be rules to make sure only one person enters a toilet block at a time, and desks could be wiped down every hour.

He said there would be a maximum number of staff on site – at the moment, the company is working to a ratio of one person per 100 square feet.

And he said the firm was “following supermarkets’ lead” with two-metre marking layouts and one-way systems in its offices.

He said the company had been thinking ahead and planning for “several months at least” of social distancing – and an increased demand as would-be commuters prefer to stay in Sussex.

How can I prepare as a business owner easing back after lockdown finishes?

So long as government guidelines are followed it is up to every single individual business owner to decide the best course of action. It would be a great idea to take inspiration from fellow directors in similar industries but this is a new and unprecedented time for us all.
